Tree Planting for Winter 2026 - Spring 2027

Welcome to the Trees on the Land project.

If you would like to plant trees on your land or in your community, please read the notes on this page carefully for details on how the project works.  Applications for trees can be made by following the instructions at the bottom of the page.

How the project works:

• Applications are open to all communities and landowners: farmers, smallholders, community groups, schools, colleges, sports clubs, golf clubs, youth groups, healthcare and hospital grounds, councils, church and faith communities, gardeners and many others.

• Applicants will be kept up to date with project news, tree delivery details, planting and management guidance and other information by email.

• Applications are accepted on a first come first served basis. We have limited numbers of trees and applications will be closed early if all trees are accounted for before the deadline. Please do not leave your application to the last minute - apply promptly to avoid disappointment!

• Application Deadline: Applications for trees will close at 5pm on Sunday 18th October 2026.

• We very heartily recommend that you read through our guide to planning, planting and looking after your trees [HERE] and our Frequently Asked Questions [HERE] before you make an application and again before you plant your trees. It is full of useful information for those of you who haven’t planted trees before.

• The majority of tree deliveries will be sent out during January, February and March 2027.

• Trees will be delivered to you by courier, by one of our local helpers, or to a local collection point for you to collect. You will be notified by email well in advance of your trees being sent out for delivery.

• All trees are native species grown in Ireland from certified Irish provenance seed. Trees are small bare-rooted whips and between 30cm and one metre tall depending on species. The majority of trees are 40-60cm in height.

• We have tree mixes for planting woodlands, coppice, hedgerows, shelter and runoff belts, scattered individual open grown trees, groups of trees, treelines and avenues, waterside trees, agroforestry, orchards and forest gardens and other scenarios.

• You will need to plant the trees yourself with help from friends, family and others as appropriate to the planting project. You can employ a local contractor to plant your trees if you wish.

• Applicants must agree to follow our guidelines on the following pages carefully when planting and looking after their trees.

Sponsored trees for all schools and colleges. Including nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools, secondary schools, third level educational colleges and universities, special schools, and adult learning establishments.

Our Trees for Communities Scheme welcomes applications for sponsored trees from community groups of all kinds including sports clubs, youth groups, healthcare and hospital grounds, church and faith communities, Tidy Towns, residents groups, community gardens, allotments, scouts groups, councils.

Our Farmers & Smallholders Scheme welcomes applications for sponsored trees from farms and smallholdings of all kinds.

Our Garden Tree Planting Scheme offers packs of native trees for planting in private home gardens. Community gardens and allotments should apply via the Trees for Communities section above.
